He bends down to listen

Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!
Psalm 116:2 *New Living Translation

Kind of seems like a rash promise doesn't it...I will pray as long as I have breath? I mean, the Psalmist sounds so excited about praying, and many times we are not too excited about praying or too regular about it either. Many times it also doesn't even feel like God is listening.

That's where the lyrics to the song, Never Alone, by Barlow Girl seems to reflect our feelings:

I waited for you today
But you didn't show
No no no
I needed You today
So where did You go?
You told me to call
Said You'd be there
And though I haven't seen You
Are You still there?

[Chorus:]
I cried out with no reply
And I can't feel You by my side
So I'll hold tight to what I know
You're here and I"m never alone

And though I cannot see You
And I can't explain why
Such a deep, deep reassurance
You've placed in my life

We cannot separate
'Cause You're part of me
And though You're invisible
I'll trust the unseen

[Chorus]

We cannot separate
You're part of me
And though You're invisible
I'll trust the unseen

Seems to me God could ask any one of us "Where were you when I needed you" but when life gets tough, the first thing we seem to do is blame God.

What a reassurance then, that no matter what we feel, we're never alone.

And He's bending down to listen.
