I work with the public and as such there are days when the people can get on your very last nerve. It was at the end of one of those days that I paged through the new testament, looking at scriptures I've highlighted. Funny how the Lord made the verses following "jump" off the page.
As you start reading you'll notice that we fail many, many times to follow the guidelines and commandments below. It is only through relying on the Holy Spirit to guide and change us that we will improve in loving others. That will only happen as we spend time with Him, "disgarding everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that you can gain Christ and become one with Him." (Philippians 3:8b-9)
Prayerfully and peacefully read through the list of scriptures below, allowing the Holy Spirit to change your heart and attitude.
What is important is faith expressing itself in love. (Galatians 5:6b)
He has told us about the love for others that the Holy Spirit has given you. (Colossians 1:8)
Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. (Ephesians 5:2)
You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. (James 1:19b)
They must not slander anyone and must avoid quarreling. Instead, they should be gentle and show true humility to everyone. (Titus 3:2)
Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. (Ephesians 4:29)
A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people. (2 Timothy 2:24 )
Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:32)
Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. (Colossians 3:12-13)
Do everything without complaining and arguing (Philippians 2:14)
Don’t grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. (James 5:9)
Be blessed.
